Join the Adventure!!!
Join us on a spectacular 2 day / 1 night guided backpacking tour along the Tuolumne River to Glen Aulin. We'll meet inside Yosemite National Park on Tioga Road at Tuolumne Meadows at 10AM. This tour includes up to 7 people total.
We will hike approximately 5.5 miles and descend about 1,070 feet along the Tuolumne River. We will see waterfalls and cascades along the Tuolumne River including the famous Tuolumne Falls and White Cascade before we camp in the Glen Aulin campground.
There is a possibility that the Conness Creek will be so high at the damaged foot bridge leading to Glen Aulin campground that we will have to continue a couple more miles further and camp near the Tuolumne River. So far the the snowpack is below average this winter so hopefully the crossing will be easy.
On this trek we will also pass the famous ruins of the Soda Springs Cabin which has naturally carbonated mineral springs bubbling up inside the cabin. The cabin was built around the gaseous spring in 1889 by John Baptist Lembert to keep livestock from fouling the spring water.
There is also several areas with multiple glacial erratics of various sizes along this hike. Glacial erratics are boulders deposited by ancient glaciers as the glaciers melted long ago.
Challenging (the way we like it)
This trip could be challenging for those who are not in good physical shape. The elevation at the start of the trip will be at around 8,600 feet and we will descend down to 7,900 feet at Glen Aulin. This hike is for adults at least 18 years old. The group leader will set a pace that allows everyone to keep up.
Feed the Machine
Eating plenty of high energy foods, staying hydrated before and during the hike and sleeping the night before at a high altitude will help you stay energized and in good spirits during this hike. You will burn a lot of calories and need more food than normal to keep your energy high. Snack and water breaks should allow everyone to stay energized and motivated.
Detailed directions to the meeting spot in Tuoumne Medows will be since once the booking is complete and prepayment is made. The price is per person. Participants must be at least 18 years old and must sign an acknowledgment of risks, medical questionnaire, and photo release forms.
We encourage you to bring your own gear if you have it. However, you may reserve the use of our gear at no additional charge if you let us know a several days in advance. Every person / couple will need a tent, sleeping pads, warm sleeping bag, water containers, and a hiking backpack that can fit these things inside.
A sunhat and appropriate clothing and broke-in footwear is also very important. New shoes / boots on a hike can cause foot pain. If you must buy new shoes consider trying a size larger than normal because your feet will swell while hiking over multiple miles. It is always better you use footwear you have already broke-in.
Food and Water
We'll provide food but feel free to bring your own especially if you have dietary restrictions. Yosemite rules require all food that is left unattended must be inside a bear proof canister. Yosemite rents these canisters out at the park entrance for a small fee. We will be drinking and cooking with filtered water from sources along our hike. We will be happy to filter water for you to fill your containers with.
Everyone will be required to carry a little bit of group gear such as food and cooking gear.
Let's Follow the Rules
Participants agree to abide by Yosemite National Park rules and regulations including campfire restrictions that are sometimes in place during dry conditions. When backcountry campfires are allowed, Yosemite rules require campfires to be in existing rock fire rings. Gas stoves are always acceptable.
